Dealing with COVID-19 stress. Scream it out.
Scream it out and throw a fit. Yes. Throw a fit and make it a good one. Tension can build in our bodies over time and can lead to a range of emotional and physical issues (see list) so LET IT OUT!
Personally, I like to lay face down on my bed to kick and scream into pillows until I feel exhausted. It’s such a fantastic primal experience. There’s a good reason why two year olds are experts at this: it serves the very essential function of releasing stress. They need it because they don’t yet have the vocabulary to express frustration. And for adults, sometimes we don’t either! In the case of COVID-19 fear, there’s nothing to be done about it. Talking about it isn’t helping me at all.
I feel a lack of control over my own life and nothing could be more frustrating for someone like me. Not being able to move freely through the world and being stuck at home with these people I love but don’t want to see 24 hours a day… I need to scream. So I do. And you should too.
